

St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is actually a shrub that has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times due to its many benefits. Originally from Europe, it is now naturalized in America and Australia. The Latin name perforatum refers to the tiny perforations visible when holding the leaves up to the light, which contain the essential oil of the plant.
