A plant similar to common lavender, but in this species the entire plant is covered with a dense layer of greyish-white wool-like hairs. It grows from the Serranía de Ronda in Málaga to eastern Andalusia and Murcia, starting at 400 metres above sea level, usually in limestone soils. It gives off a strong balsamic scent.
