Lettuce variety with dark red, crinkled leaves and wavy edges.
Red Batavia Lettuce is a loose-leaf variety with crisp, deep red leaves and firm texture. Its flavor is mild and slightly sweet, and it is mainly consumed fresh in salads, sandwiches, or as a side dish.
It adapts well to different soil types, prefers full sun or partial shade, and requires regular watering to keep the leaves fresh. Its cultivation is relatively easy and fast, producing dense plants with attractive and nutritious foliage.
Sow seeds in trays or directly in the soil in spring or autumn, lightly covering with fine substrate. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination usually occurs within 7 to 12 days. Once seedlings have several true leaves, transplant them leaving enough space between plants for proper development and crisp leaves.
