Lettuce with reddish, soft, lobed leaves, perfect for fresh salads.
Lactuca sativa ‘Red Oakleaf’ is a loose-leaf lettuce variety with soft, finely lobed leaves of deep red color, adding an ornamental and nutritious touch to salads. It grows in open rosettes and is appreciated for its tender texture and slightly sweet flavor.
It adapts to different soil types, prefers full sun or partial shade, and regular watering without waterlogging. It is a fast-growing plant, ideal for successive sowings and continuous harvest of fresh leaves.
Sow seeds directly in trays or in the ground from late winter to spring, lightly covering with fine substrate. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged and ensure good light. Seeds usually germinate within 7 to 12 days. When seedlings have several true leaves, transplant them leaving 20-30 cm between plants to allow proper development of the leaf rosette.
