Congona - 1 plant
Peperomia inaequalifolia, also known as Congona or Canelón, is a succulent herbaceous plant endemic to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its leaves have a spicy cinnamon flavor.
The Congona is characterized by growing in humid environments of the highlands, reaching a maximum height of approximately 50 cm. Its stems are circular, knotty, and branched, while the leaves, of bright green color, are round, with the basal ones larger than the upper ones, the latter being opposite and with entire margins. The greenish-toned flowers give rise to small fruits.
Regarding cultivation, Peperomia inaequalifolia can be propagated both by seeds and by cuttings. Both methods are simple and fast, allowing for rapid root development. This process provides an accessible way to expand and cultivate this plant successfully. The plant tolerates cold temperatures down to zero degrees but not frost. During the summer, it is advisable to place it in partial shade.
