Coffea arabica
Tropical shrub with glossy leaves and red fruits. Can be grown indoors.
It is the main species cultivated for coffee production, native to Ethiopia and Yemen. Its roasted seeds are used to make coffee, a highly stimulating beverage due to its caffeine content, with a diuretic effect.
Shrub with opposite, oval or oblong dark green leaves. The white axillary flowers produce bright red fruits (drupes) that contain two seeds.
