Schisandra chinensis
Climbing plant with deciduous leaves, reaching up to 9 meters in height, that grows in northern China and southern Russia. Its name comes from the fact that its berries are said to contain the five flavors: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and spicy; it is currently considered sweet and sour. In China, it is regarded as a fundamental herb and is consumed in infusions. It is also used in wine production, and its leaves are boiled and used as a vegetable.
