Pulmonaria officinalis, also known as lungwort or lung herb, is a perennial plant from the Boraginaceae family that thrives in damp, shaded soils. Native to Europe and Western Asia, it is valued for its resilience and adaptability to shady conditions, making it a popular choice for shade gardens. Its leaves, a deep green, are speckled with silver or white spots, giving it an ornamental appeal. The flowers, which range in color from pink to blue, bloom in the spring and add a charming touch to gardens. Traditionally, it has been used in folk medicine, especially for treating respiratory conditions, though its modern use is more focused on its ornamental value. It is a low-maintenance plant, frost-hardy, and easily propagated by dividing clumps.
