Cucumis melo Blanco Ribatejo
Melon variety with oval fruits, smooth white skin, and light greenish-white, sweet and firm flesh, weighing 2.5-3.5 kg on average.
The Ribatejo White Melon is valued for its oval fruits with smooth, uniform white skin, and light greenish-white, sweet, firm flesh. Fruits weigh 2.5–3.5 kg and offer pleasant flavor and firm texture, ideal for fresh consumption. This variety grows well in warm climates and requires fertile, well-drained soils for optimal fruit development.
How to sow Ribatejo White Melon seeds
Sow seeds in seed trays or small pots at 1-2 cm deep in a light, well-drained substrate. Keep the soil consistently moist without waterlogging. The optimal germination temperature is 20-28 °C, with seeds sprouting in 7-12 days. When seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, transplant them to the ground, spacing plants 50–70 cm apart and rows 1-1.2 m apart. Regular watering and full sun exposure are needed to produce sweet, firm fruits.
