The Piel de Sapo Melon produces medium-large elongated fruits with rough green skin and dark mottled patches, typical of the variety. The flesh is white or slightly greenish, sweet and juicy, with a small central cavity and few seeds. Highly valued for its flavor and texture, it is perfect for fresh consumption or fruit salads.

This variety requires a warm, sunny climate to thrive and adapts to different soil types as long as they are well-drained. Traditionally sown for summer harvests, it is resilient to mild climate fluctuations.

How to sow Piel de Sapo Melon seeds

Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12–24 hours before sowing to improve germination. Sow seeds in seed trays at 1–2 cm deep, keeping the substrate moist but not waterlogged. Optimal germination temperature is 20–25 °C, with seedlings appearing in 7–14 days. Transplant when seedlings have 2–3 true leaves, leaving 80–100 cm between plants. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils, full sun, and regular watering without waterlogging.
