The Figaro Colorful Dahlia is a dwarf and prolific variety belonging to the Asteraceae family. Each plant produces solid-colored flowers but offers a varied palette including warm tones of yellow, orange, deep red, and bright white. Ideal for borders, pots, and small gardens, this dahlia transforms any outdoor space into a vibrant display of color throughout the warm season.

From a botanical perspective, this plant features a tuberous root system that stores nutrients, enabling abundant and long-lasting blooms. It reaches an average height of 20 to 30 cm and is moderately drought-tolerant as long as the soil is well-drained. Its flowering is encouraged by full sun exposure and light fertilization during growth.

Interesting fact: Dahlias originate from Mexico, where they were cultivated since pre-Hispanic times. In addition to their ornamental use, their tuberous roots, rich in inulin, were consumed as food. They gained popularity in Europe in the 18th century, becoming one of the most beloved garden plants worldwide.

How to sow dahlia seeds

Sow in spring after the risk of frost has passed. Use a light, well-drained substrate.

Place the seeds at a depth of 0.5 cm, covering them lightly with soil.

Maintain a consistent temperature of 20-25 °C for successful germination, which typically occurs within 7-14 days.

Water gently to keep the substrate moist but avoid waterlogging.

Once seedlings have at least 2-3 true leaves, transplant them into the garden or final pots, spacing them about 30 cm apart.
