Rooibos - Seeds
Aspalathus linearis
Aspalathus linearis, rooibos, is a South African shrub whose leaves are used to brew the familiar herbal tea. It is also known as red bush, reflecting the color associated with the dried product.
This species is interesting for both its cultural value and its specific botanical origin. In cultivation it appreciates strong light, excellent drainage and avoidance of heavy or waterlogged soils.
How to sow rooibos seeds
Sow in a sandy, poor or acidic, very well-drained medium and keep lightly moist during germination. Some hard seeds may require appropriate pretreatment. Place the tray in a bright, well-ventilated position.
