Perennial Sweet Pea, Pink Pearl - Seeds
Lathyrus odoratus, Pink Pearl
Perennial climbing plant with abundant soft pink flower clusters, ideal for fences, pergolas and trellises.
Lathyrus latifolius 'Pink Pearl' is an ornamental perennial sweet pea valued for its elegant clusters of soft pink flowers. Unlike annual sweet peas, this species returns year after year, producing dense foliage and abundant blooms throughout the summer months.
Its climbing stems use tendrils to attach themselves to supports and can reach several metres in length. It is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest and colour to pergolas, arches, fences and garden structures. The flowers are also highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
How to sow Lathyrus latifolius 'Pink Pearl' seeds
To improve germination, soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours before sowing. Sow in late winter or spring in a light, well-drained substrate, covering the seeds with about 1 cm of soil. Keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged and place in a bright location. Germination usually occurs within 10-30 days. Once seedlings are well established, transplant them to their final position near a support structure where they can climb.
