Queensland bottle tree - Seeds
Brachychiton rupestris
Brachychiton rupestris, the Queensland bottle tree, is an Australian species known for its swollen trunk. The trunk stores water and develops the distinctive bottle shape that gives the tree its common name.
It is a highly sculptural ornamental tree, interesting for dry gardens, Australian plant collections and container cultivation while young. Strong light and excellent drainage are important.
How to sow Queensland bottle tree seeds
Sow in a loose, well-drained medium and keep lightly moist during germination. Place the tray in a warm, bright location. Avoid excess water and transplant seedlings into deeper containers once established.
