Madagascar ocotillo - Seeds
Alluaudia procera
Alluaudia procera, the Madagascar ocotillo, is an unusual succulent shrub from the dry forests of southern Madagascar. Its upright stems and distinctive structure give it a striking architectural presence.
This species is particularly appealing for succulent and rare plant collections. In cultivation it should be given strong light, excellent drainage and careful watering suited to its dry-forest origin.
How to sow Madagascar ocotillo seeds
Sow in a mineral or very well-drained medium, covering the seeds only lightly. Keep slightly moist during germination but avoid waterlogged conditions. Grow seedlings in a bright, airy place and water moderately as they develop.
