Evergreen Dutchman's pipe - Seeds
Aristolochia sempervirens
Aristolochia sempervirens, known as evergreen Dutchman's pipe, is a climbing plant from the Mediterranean region. Its evergreen habit and characteristic pipevine flowers make it interesting for collections of unusual climbers.
Because of its Mediterranean origin, it may suit somewhat less humid conditions than many tropical Aristolochia species, though it still benefits from a well-drained substrate and protection while establishing.
How to sow evergreen Dutchman's pipe seeds
Sow Aristolochia sempervirens seeds in a light, airy and well-drained medium. Keep moisture moderate during germination, avoiding waterlogging and abrupt changes in conditions.
As seedlings begin to grow, provide good light and suitable support for their climbing habit. Transplant carefully once roots are developed enough for the plant to establish in its growing container.
