Black Zapote - Plant
Diospyros nigra
Tropical fruit tree from Central America and Mexico, where the Mayans called it Tauch. Its ripe fruit has a thin green skin enclosing a dark brown pulp with an exotic flavour, similar to chocolate, and a unique mousse-like texture. It is eaten fresh as a dessert or used in sweets and jams.
