Grey mangrove - Seeds
Avicennia marina
Avicennia marina, known as grey mangrove, is a mangrove species found along Indian Ocean coasts in Africa, Asia and Australia. Its coastal ecology makes it especially interesting from a botanical point of view.
This is a distinctive plant for specialist collections, particularly because of its adaptation to shoreline environments. Cultivation should be approached with attention to its specific requirements rather than broad assumptions.
How to sow grey mangrove seeds
Sow the seeds in a substrate suitable for plants from humid coastal environments, keeping conditions stable. Do not allow the material to dry out completely during establishment.
Place seedlings in a bright, sheltered position and observe their response to watering and substrate. As a mangrove, it benefits from careful and well-informed cultivation.
