Solanum cheesmaniae, known as the Galápagos tomato, is a wild tomato species native to the Galápagos Islands. Its island origin makes it especially appealing to growers interested in unusual botanical material.

This species is well suited to collections of wild tomatoes and to anyone interested in the diversity of the genus Solanum. Its main appeal lies in its rarity and its association with a very distinctive natural setting.

How to sow Galápagos tomato seeds

Sow the seeds in a light, well-drained growing medium, keeping it evenly moist but not waterlogged. Place the seed tray in a bright, sheltered spot until seedlings are established.

Once the young plants are strong enough, transplant them carefully into individual pots or their final position. Like other tomatoes, it appreciates good light and steady watering.
