Frankincense tree - Seeds
Boswellia sacra
Boswellia sacra, commonly known as the frankincense tree, is a rare species native to the Arabian Peninsula. It is best known for the aromatic resin traditionally called frankincense.
This is a particularly appealing species for collectors of unusual plants, both for its dry-region origin and for its botanical interest. Its character and history make it a distinctive addition to a specialist collection.
How to sow frankincense tree seeds
Sow the seeds in a very free-draining substrate, taking care to avoid excess moisture. Keep the pot in a bright, sheltered position and water moderately so the medium does not stay waterlogged.
During early growth, watch the seedlings closely and adjust watering to your actual conditions. Boswellia sacra benefits from careful handling and good air movement.
