Flame of the forest - Seeds
Butea monosperma
Butea monosperma, known as flame of the forest, is a tropical tree admired for its bright orange-red flower plumes. The showy bird-pollinated blooms give the species strong ornamental value.
It is a good choice for growers interested in tropical trees with striking seasonal colour. In cultivation it should receive strong light and a well-drained substrate, avoiding saturated root conditions.
How to sow flame of the forest seeds
Sow Butea monosperma seeds in a loose, well-drained medium, using containers with enough depth for early root development. Keep moisture moderate and avoid waterlogging.
Place the seed container in a bright, protected position. Once seedlings are sturdy, transplant carefully, protecting the young roots and gradually increasing exposure to stronger light.
