Ball Cornflower is a fast-growing annual variety of Centaurea cyanus, valued for its vibrant flowers and effortless cultivation. Its colourful blooms create beautiful displays in flower beds, borders and wildflower meadows, bringing a natural countryside appearance to the garden.

This adaptable variety thrives even in poor soils, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinating insects, helping to support local biodiversity.

How to sow the seeds

Sow directly outdoors from late winter to spring, or in autumn in mild climates. Cover the seeds lightly with approximately 0.5-1 cm of soil and keep the soil moderately moist until germination.

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Although it prefers fertile ground, it performs well even in relatively poor soils. Seeds usually germinate within one to two weeks, followed by abundant flowering throughout spring and summer.
