Asian species introduced in Europe in the 16th century as food plant, where it is known as Armuelle or Bled Molle. It is amaranth family, grows very fast and reaches 2 meters high.
It has triangular leaves with sinuous edges and short petioles, formerly consumed boiled as spinach. There are red and green varieties.
