Titan arum - Seeds
Amorphophallus titanum
Amorphophallus titanum, known as titan arum, is one of the most extraordinary plants in the botanical world. This rare species is famous for producing the largest unbranched inflorescence known, making it an iconic plant for serious collections.
It is a demanding species, better suited to growers experienced with tropical aroids than to ordinary household cultivation. It needs warmth, high humidity, a suitable growing medium and enough space to develop its large vegetative structure over time.
For sowing, use a deep, airy medium rich in organic matter and with good drainage. Keep the seeds in a warm, stable and humid environment, avoiding both complete drying and waterlogging. Clean growing conditions and environmental stability are especially important for rare tropical species.
During cultivation, respect the growth and rest cycles typical of the genus. Watering should follow the plant’s condition: more regular during active growth and much more cautious when no growth is visible. Always protect it from cold and provide bright filtered light, increasing pot size gradually as the plant requires.
