Marconi Red Pepper - Seeds
Capsicum annuum
Medium-early sweet pepper variety producing large, elongated, thick-fleshed red fruits, perfect for fresh eating and preserving.
Marconi Red is a traditional Capsicum annuum variety prized for its elongated fruits, vigorous growth and excellent productivity. The plants grow to approximately 45-60 cm tall and produce abundant, high-quality peppers throughout the growing season.
The fruits reach around 17 cm in length and 6 cm in width, with thick 7-8 mm walls and juicy, sweet flesh. When fully ripe, they develop a rich red colour and are ideal for eating fresh, roasting, stuffing, cooking or preserving.
This versatile variety performs well both outdoors and in greenhouses, thriving in fertile, well-drained soil and full sun.
How to sow the seeds
Start seeds indoors from late winter to early spring. Cover them lightly with growing medium and maintain temperatures between 22 and 28 °C with consistent moisture.
Seeds usually germinate within 8-15 days. Transplant outdoors after the last frost once the seedlings have developed several true leaves, spacing plants about 40-50 cm apart. Grow in full sun and water regularly for the best harvest.
