Echinacea angustifolia is a perennial species native to the North American prairies, valued for its hardiness, longevity and attractive blooms. It forms compact clumps of narrow, elongated leaves from which upright stems emerge, carrying striking pink flowers with prominent central cones.

Its natural appearance makes it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens, sunny borders and wildflower meadows. The flowers attract bees, butterflies and many other pollinators, helping to support garden biodiversity.

In botanical and ethnobotanical literature, Echinacea angustifolia is frequently mentioned for its traditional uses and for the interest it has generated in studies related to the properties of this species. It remains one of the best-known and most widely appreciated members of the Echinacea genus.

It tolerates heat, drought once established and cold winters, thriving best in well-drained soils and full sun.

How to sow the seeds

Seeds of Echinacea angustifolia generally germinate better after a period of cold stratification. Place them in a slightly moist medium in the refrigerator for 4-8 weeks.

After stratification, sow the seeds in a light, well-drained substrate and cover them only lightly. Maintain moderate moisture and temperatures between 18 and 22 °C. Germination may occur within 10-30 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them with adequate spacing for future growth.
