Perennial herb with edible green leaves, valued for its hardiness and culinary use.

Seed packet size

Collejas are a wild variety of Silene vulgaris, a hardy perennial with erect stems and green lance-shaped leaves. It produces numerous small white flowers clustered in ramillets, blooming in spring and summer. Ideal for wildflower gardens, borders, and meadows, it adapts to different soils and tolerates moderate drought.

Traditionally, its tender leaves have been used as food, in salads, soups, or stews, prized in rural cuisine for their mild flavor and delicate texture. Harvesting is done before flowering to ensure the best quality leaves.

How to sow Collejas seeds

Sow seeds in seed trays or directly in the ground at 0.5–1 cm deep. Keep the substrate slightly moist. Germinates best at temperatures between 15–20 °C, emerging in 10–20 days. When seedlings have several true leaves, transplant leaving 20–30 cm between plants. Prefers full sun or light shade and well-drained soils.
